Contribute can edit static HTML on virtually any web page, including CFM, ASP, JSP and PHP pages. Any server includes or server code on such pages is protected by default to ensure that Contribute does not break application-server functionality. However, Contribute cannot edit content that is stored in a database.
The Contribute Publishing Server (CPS) is a server application that provides central administration and tracking of user access and publishing activities on the website. CPS provides central management of site connections and access permissions, while server-based logging and e-mail notifications provide a deeper view into publishing activities.
Contribute is software developed by Adobe Inc. and requires an activation key to be entered or the software will fail to open after the evaluation period has expired which is nominally 30 days. Product activation is an anonymous, secure and hassle-free one-time process that authenticates licensed users during the installation process. Activation is not required for products acquired under a volume license agreement. The activation process verifies that the serial number is legitimate and has not been activated on more systems than allowed by the End User License Agreement (EULA). It does not affect the ability of licensed users to use their software as they always have.
