The delightful Ms Leslie Knauer
The Girl of Every Teen Boys Fantasy

In 1979 a young Canadian woman emerged on the music scene in Australia, as lead vocalist of a brother and sister band known as Promises. Their debut song "Baby It's You" was a smash hit on the Australian single charts and still remains a favourite today for many dj's across the country.
Whilst the band's duration as a group may have been brief, the memories endure forever of the promotional video clip which accompanied the release of "Baby It's You". It was simply encapsulating. So much so, it was as if some form of advanced subliminal messaging had been encoded into the video's audio track, which exerted an influence over its audience that rendered them physically incapacitated, without so much as the ability to avert their eyes for a second from the vision of Ms Knauer belting out the chorus of the song in full vocal and splendour.
It's always been said you never forget your first love. For many young Australian teenage boys who were growing up in the 70's in Australia, Ms Leslie Knauer was their first love.
In tribute to Ms Leslie Knauer, and the thousands of marriage proposals she would have received had it been legal for prepubescent teen males to marry in Australia (and mum and dad wouldn't have minded Leslie sharing their room until they were old enough to leave home), the Octopius Corporation is planning to dedicate a website to Ms Knauer - leslieknauer.com - in lieu of next year's 30th anniversary of the release of "Baby It's You" in Australia.
